The short answer

The most expensive rehabs in Thailand publish prices up to about US$21,933 for 28 days (October 2026), close to twice the median of US$11,834. The extra money mostly buys comfort, privacy and staff time; it does not guarantee better medical care, so check the clinical team and inclusions as carefully as you would at any price.

What does luxury rehab in Thailand cost?

The highest price a center publishes on its own website is US$21,933 for 28 days.[1]

We checked 43 treatment centers in October 2026. Of the 8 private centers that publish a price on their own website, 2 sit in our premium band of US$18,000 or more per 28 days, and 6 in the mid-market band of US$8,000 to US$12,999.[1]

Many centers publish no price at all: 14 of the 36 private centers we checked had no usable price on their website or in a directory.[1] Expect to ask for a written quote, and compare it against the Price Index before you decide.

What does the extra money buy?

From centers' own descriptions, premium prices usually pay for some mix of these:

  • Accommodation. Larger rooms, villas or bungalows, and higher-end food and facilities.
  • Privacy. Fewer clients at a time, and more control over who knows you are there.
  • Staff time. More one-to-one therapy sessions, more psychiatrist time, or a personal care coordinator. Ask for the numbers.
  • Extras. Personal training, massage, transfers and sometimes family accommodation.

A private room is not a luxury marker in Thailand. At the entry price, 7 of the 8 centers that publish prices offer a private room, villa or bungalow.[1]

What doesn't a higher price guarantee?

Inclusions vary at every price: across all 8 centers, only 3 fully include detox and 6 state that doctor or psychiatrist care is included.[1]

We have not found research showing that comfort or amenities improve treatment outcomes. The US National Institute on Drug Abuse points to other things: treatment matched to the person and reviewed as needs change, enough time in treatment, medicines where they help, attention to mental health conditions, and ongoing support.[2]

None of those depends on the view. A premium price also doesn't prove that a center is licensed, that a doctor manages withdrawal, or that it has a hospital plan. Check those yourself, the same way you would for a cheaper program.

How does it compare with luxury rehab at home?

Thailand's premium prices sit close to standard private rehab in the UK and below private rehab in Australia. UK private clinics charge roughly £8,000 to £20,000 for 28 days, with luxury clinics up to about £10,000 a week. In Australia, a standard 28-day private program costs about A$25,000 to A$40,000, and premium programs up to about A$55,000.[5]

Those home figures come from commercial sources and vary widely, so treat them as a rough guide. The bigger difference is often what happens after discharge: treatment at home keeps you near your own doctor and support services. Our comparison guide covers when staying home is the better choice.

Longer stays cost less per month. Where centers publish prices for both 28 days and about 12 weeks, the longer stay works out about 8% to 15% cheaper per 28 days.[1]

What is an executive rehab program?

Centers use "executive" for premium programs that allow some work, for example scheduled phone or laptop time, a private office or meeting room, and flexible family visits. There is no standard definition, and the term is used for marketing.

Ask how much work access is allowed, who decides, and whether the clinical team can reduce it if work is driving the problem. Time away from work pressure is often part of what makes residential treatment useful.

What are the red flags at the top end?

A high price can make a center feel trustworthy. These signs suggest you should check more carefully, whatever the price:

  • The marketing is all about the setting. If the website shows pools and villas but names no doctor, psychiatrist or therapist, ask who the clinical team is.
  • Claims you can't check. "Award-winning", "world-leading" or "accredited" with no name of the award or accreditor. Look up any accreditation yourself.[4]
  • A guaranteed cure or success rate. Ask how the figure was measured, over what period and by whom.
  • Pressure to pay quickly. A large deposit requested before you have seen the licence, the contract and the refund policy.

Questions to ask before paying premium prices

  1. How many hours of one-to-one therapy a week, and with whom? Ask for each therapist's qualifications and registration.
  2. How often will I see a psychiatrist, and is that in the price?
  3. Who manages detox, and which hospital do you use? Ask who pays if a hospital stay is needed.
  4. How many clients are here at once, and what is the staff ratio at night?
  5. What exactly does the price exclude? Ask about medicines, tax, transfers and extra sessions.
  6. What aftercare is included once I go home? Ask for the plan in writing, with the name of the person who will follow up.

Frequently asked questions

How much does luxury rehab in Thailand cost?

The highest price a center publishes on its own website is US$21,933 for 28 days (October 2026). Two of the 8 centers that publish prices are in our premium band of US$18,000 or more, against a median of US$11,834.

Is luxury rehab more effective?

We have not found research showing that comfort or amenities improve outcomes. What the evidence links to better results is treatment matched to the person, enough time in treatment, medicines where they help, care for mental health conditions and support after discharge. Those can be found at many price levels.

Is luxury rehab in Thailand cheaper than at home?

Usually much cheaper than luxury programs in the US, and broadly similar to some standard private programs in the UK and Australia. Our comparison guide sets out the figures.

Can I keep working during an executive program?

Some centers advertise limited phone and laptop access for executives. Ask exactly how many hours, and whether the clinical team can restrict access if work is a trigger. Time away from work is often part of what makes treatment effective.

Does a premium price include medical detox?

Not always. Across the 8 centers that publish prices, only 3 say detox is fully included; others manage mild withdrawal themselves and send severe cases to hospital at extra cost. Ask who manages detox and who pays if you need a hospital, whatever the price.

Will insurance pay for a luxury program?

Insurers that cover treatment abroad usually pay up to a limit, not whatever a center charges, and many policies exclude addiction treatment. Get the limit in writing before you book. Our insurance guide lists the questions to ask.
